Early 2014 a similar petition was made and was denied because of Ukraine's failure to meet many statutory requirements. However nearly 2 years has passed since the original petition and we feel it is time for another review. During the past 2 years Ukraine has made many strides to move closer to our western values.
It is time for the US to step up like the EU did on December 18, 2015. On this day the European Commission approved the Visa Liberalization Action Plan for Ukraine and recommended that visa-free travel with Ukraine in early 2016.
It is time for us now to follow in the footsteps of our friends and allies. It is time for us to say thank you to Ukraine for their fight and sacrifices they have made over the past few years and open our borders to them for 90 day visa free access.
