We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Allow US Military Veterans to use their GI Bill to help pay off pre-service college debt

Created by M.D. on November 15, 2016

This petition seeks to inform and push the issue of the student debt crisis, particularly among veterans that served with existing college debt and would like to use their Montgomery or Post-9/11 GI Bill to pay down or pay off said existing debt. Currently, this is not allowed by Congress and the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bill rules. Allowing the GI Bill, which as of October 2016, is worth over $66,000 to each veteran to use for college post-service, to be modified to allow retroactive payments goes a long way to help relieving veterans in this particular debt status; it allows them to pursue a more financially secure post-military life. It is well worth it for our men and women who have honorably served our Nation. Sign, pass this on, and petition Congress today!
