A crucial part of how a government functions and thrives is how and where its taxes go. It is understandable that some of the taxes we put in we can't change since there are infrastructure and social needs that the government must maintain. However, many people have personal views about how a nation is run that are constantly at odds with where our government chooses to put the money we are willingly giving them in order to make our nation a greater place.
For me, I would wish for a portion of my tax money to go towards only education and science, but I know that there is quite a bit of it going towards military, which I do not accept. However, I would want those people that do want to spend on military to have that option as well.
Allow us to choose where a fraction of the money goes.
