Allow the US Postal Service to seek alternate revenue streams like on vehicle ads and sponsored commemorative stamps.

Created by K.M. on October 18, 2011

Due to an unfair law that requires the USPS to pay its retirement and healthcare costs forward by 75 years, and a current congressional cap on what a stamp can cost, the Postal Service is heading for insolvency. Mail Delivery is a vital government service and a key to a free and connected society. This proposal would allow and encourage the Postal Service to seek alternate revenue streams using its existing assets. For example, selling ad space on its postage stamps via "Sponsored Commemoratives" like a Coca-Cola Santa Claus at Christmas time. Or placing advertising on the outside of postal vehicles. By using existing assets to generate more revenue, the bugetary issue should be resolvable and any surplus generated might be used for deficit reduction.
