We as Virginians wish to exercise our Rights as Human Beings to withdrawal from a Union which we see as seeking only to dispose us under complete despotism. This government has continuously trampled upon the Rights of its Citizens and that of the States.
For this reason we see as the only course of action secession and establishing a new Government. It is our wish to join with other states whom follow the same course and form our own nation, though we will go it alone if we must.
