According to a recent news report, ten members of Congress have written to Daniel Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, wanting him to change the name of the franchise claiming it is "offensive" to Native Americans. Opinions aside, the team and the name have been around for more than 70 years. Someone is forever going to find something "offensive" about everything, and this sort of nonsense has to be stopped. The rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys began because of the "Cowboys and Indians". If I were of Native American decent (and my children have some Cherokee in them), I would be proud that the NFL team representing our Nation's capital honors my heritage!!!
