As a resident of North Carolina, the laws pertaining to Hate Crime include penalties for offences against people of varying race, religion, and ethnicity, but does not include it's LGBT citizens.
This is not a selective circumstance, as of 2013, five states hold penalty only for the Hate Crime of Institutional Vandalism, while fifteen states (as well as the previously noted five) are exclusionary to all LGBT citizens.
I ask for an alteration of legislation on a Federal level to place all citizens equal before law, despite their sexual orientation or gender identity.
