Two of the most pressing issues that we face today as American citizens are the risks associated with our nation’s dependence on imported petroleum for automotive transportation use, and the financial consequences of climate change that can be largely attributed to petroleum usage. In his State of the Union Address, President Obama described the importance of our nation’s need to pursue alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) technology development and the supporting infrastructure required to support mass adoption of AFV usage. Energy independence can be achieved by developing a comprehensive plan supported by a coalition of public and private industry partners which promotes a policy that saves money, eliminates our dependence on imported oil, and reduces harmful automotive exhaust emissions.
