Alternative to New Gun Control: Free and Easily Accessible Mental Health Counseling for All Who Need It

Making something illegal does not prevent it from happening. Drugs, prostitution, and child abuse are all illegal- yet these activities take place every day. If we want to end something, we must eliminate the foundation of the problem. Therefore, if we truly wish to prevent senseless mass killings, then we must make mental health counseling & psychiatric medications free and easily accessible to every person within our borders who may need it. At present, our psychiatric hospitals are full to capacity and access to counselors is limited for those with insurance and almost non-existent to the uninsured. I put forth that we establish and adequately fund outpatient and inpatient mental health treatment, including medication, for any citizen who requires it. We will all benefit.
