Alternatives to the gun control initiatives

Mr President I understand that in the wake of the horrible tragedy at Sandy hook and other places it is imperative as a society we do something to at least try to keep it from happening again. I think the background check is a good idea but the rest honestly I feel won't do much. Ask one of your secret service guards how quick they can change a magazine. I think mandatory gun safes trigger locks and training would be more effective. Also for people who lose control of there firearms there should be tough laws and penalties other countries have laws that say if you allow or are irresponsible enough to lose or have your weapon stolen and somebody is subsequently killed with that weapon then you are responsible for it same as the person who actually commited the act.
