Cell phone contracts prevent customers from joining a class action lawsuit against. Your constituents are forced to either not use a cell phone or sign away our rights to participate in such a lawsuit. No longer defendable by lawyers in mass, our only recourse is a small claim. As a result, companies are taking advantage of us just enough that we aren't willing to risk the costs (time, travel, money, etc.) of pursuing a small claim. Not fulfilling promises of quality, over charges, failing to fulfill warranty obligations, and lying about quality are just a small number of the atrocious behaviors exhibited by phone companies. This is wrong. We ask that you pass legislation to nullify any language in contracts where a customer gives up his/her right to be part of a class action lawsuit.
