Here is the Thirteenth Amendment:
"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
If read carefully, the second clause of the thirteenth amendment - "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted" - legally permits slavery in the United States. It provides constitutional support of Prison Systems, private or otherwise, to profit from the labor of imprisoned men, women, and children. It is not right fundamentally and should be removed.
