In 1996, the U.S. banned the genital mutilation of minor females, not allowing any form of cutting for any non-medical reason. [18 U.S.C. § 116 : US Code - Section 116: Female genital mutilation] It is well past time to extend this protection equally - as required by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution - to ban male genital mutilation (commonly referred to as "circumcision") as well.
All babies are born with a right to a complete and whole body, and cultural or religious reasons should not be considered in ensuring that they are able to maintain that right.
