Amend the 2nd amendment of the Constitution by reserving the exclusive power to regulate guns to the States.

Created by M.C. on December 22, 2012

The recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary has highlighted our national problem of school shootings. The problem is complicated with many facets including gun control and the availability of mental health services.

It is clear that gun control needs to be a part of the equation, but drafting a "one-size-fits-all" legislation seems a recipe for Washington gridlock. What is good and proper in New York or California may not fit North Dakota.

Instead, get the Federal Government out of the equation. The safety of our children is a local issue best handled by local officials and families.

Further, the problem of school shootings is as complicated as it is devastating. We should be willing to allow states to experiment with new laws to stop these terrible tragedies.
