Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This is our first Amendment right, yet under the Internal Revenue Code all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.
501(c)(3) violates the church's first amendment right and should be amended immediately. Being under the 501(c)(3) also states that violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of their tax-exempt status.
