Since August 1, 2012, preventative medical care is required to be provided at no cost to insured individuals - this includes vaccines, healthcare counseling, screenings, contraceptives, etc. However, insurance companies have been using the plain language of this passage of the Affordable Care Act to redefine what they consider preventative and applicable to avoid paying for such services/medication. For example, certain women's contraceptives are being redefined as "estrogen replacement therapies" among insurance companies. This allows them to remove these medications from the bucket of "no cost preventative care".
Women's health was a big issue this election and within the healthcare reform act. President, do not allow insurance companies to bend the ACA to their wills.
