The Affordable Care Act, although it dramatically improves the lives of many Americans, is financed in a shocking and unethical fashion - by forcing healthy Americans to pay sickeningly inflated premiums for laughably poor coverage. Healthy citizens need assistance with preventive care and insurance against catastrophic accidents. Hard-working, tax-paying Americans should not be branded criminals and hunted by the government for their unwillingness to pay for a prescription drug plan they don't need.
The Affordable Care Act has a laudable goal, but it is unethical and nakedly manipulative in its current form. Healthy Americans should not pay for sick Americans. ALL Americans should pay to help the sick. Cut out the insurance companies and try to pass a flat tax, if you think you can.
