ISSUE: Congress has quietly amended the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 so that the chicken and beef we buy no longer needs to tell us where that meat comes from.
They made this change after Canada and Mexico bullied them with economic threats and lobbyist persuaded our representatives. The change was based on economic woes — with no concern for keeping US consumers informed.
It is our right to be INFORMED CONSUMERS. It is the government's duty to deal with whatever issues gets in the way of this right.
SOLUTION: To keep the American people informed, but also deal with the issues presented by Mexico and Canada, this petition calls for the the amendment to require Farm of Origin and House of Slaughter, rather than country. Then, we can research that farm if we would like to know more.
