We the people of the United States hereby petition the administration and Congress to amend the Americans with Disabilities Act to require ALL restaurants to have Braille and large print menus available for blind and visually impaired patrons. Blind people are becoming increasingly independent in society and are less likely to let their lack of sight hold them back from living normal lives than people with the same disability would have when the ADA was passed. While there is handheld technology available to help them read print menus, such technology is very expensive and inaccessible for many people. In contrast, having Braille and large print menus made for restaurants would cost very little and would make the patron in need of such accommodations feel more valued as a customer.
