Starting in 2007, under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we in the US are on a different schedule than the rest of the world, ex: are Canada and Mexico, regarding when the US starts and ends daylight savings time (DST).
Prior to 2007, DST started on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October. This aligned with almost all other countries that use DST.
Starting in 2007, for the US, DST now starts on the second Sunday of March and ends the first Sunday of November.
This creates a total of 4-5 weeks where the US is on a different time standard than GMT+. This creates costs and complications for anyone or company in the US doing business internationally and also for international businesses doing business into the US.
It's time to revert DST back to pre-2007.
