The Civil Rights Act currently includes race, sex, color, religion and national origin. Sexual orientation and gender identity should be amended to the act. The act should be updated to so that all Americans are protected from discrimination in housing, employment, government entities, or public businesses. This is to firmly augment what has been ruled in cases of same-sex marriage rights and their protection under the 14th amendment.
