Discrimination against gays in scouting must end. Since 1916 the Boy Scouts of America has enjoyed a Congressional Charter providing prestige and indirect financial benefit and monopoly protection to the organization and special access to military and other federal lands and resources. Since in 1991 the BSA has refused to "accept homosexuals as members or as leaders, whether in volunteer or professional capacities." Because discrimination in it's many forms is odious and anathema to the core values of this Nation, if the BSA fails to change its discrimination policy the Congressional Charter should be amended to require non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, or it should be revoked.
