We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Amend the Constitution to address the fact that slavery is allowed in America and is tied to the justice system.

Created by M.B. on October 24, 2016

As discussed in the Documentary 13th. The constitution allows for slavery as a punishment for convicted criminals. This loophole has been used as a means to continue the practice of slavery to this day. As has been shown, companies take advantage of this loophole and entire industries are built around making a profit off prison slave labor.

It is impossible to consider a system that has financial incentive tied to its outcome just or unbiased. We have seen cases of corrupt judges getting kickbacks for sending minors to specific corrections facilities. Companies like Whole Foods have made profits selling cheese and tilapia farmed and cultured by prisoners. A lot of the problems in America go to this root cause, including the over-policing of black communities.
