Throughout the history of the United States, the commerce clause found in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution has been used to expand the role and power of government far beyond the limits intended by the founders of our nation. Americans' have come to realize that without intervention, the commerce clause will continue to be used to justify more radical and oppressive laws which violate the inalienable rights of the people.
For these reasons, we propose that the United States Constitution be amended in such a way that this dangerous clause is removed, or re-written such that the term "Commerce" is more strictly defined as direct trade between states and nations. Thus, all laws in conflict with this new definition will be null and void.
