Amend the Constitution to end congressional elections, instead having congressional seats filled by random drawing.

Created by J.M. on January 08, 2013

Congress is broken. The type of people willing to subject themselves to the electoral process simply for the power that comes with it are exactly the wrong people to fill those seats.

Amend the Constitution. End elections for the House and the Senate. Those seats would be filled by a random drawing of registered voters within a congressional district (for a House seat) and within a state (for a Senate seat).

The result of this would be true citizen representation. The collective wisdom of normal people would result in moderation, cooperation and coordination for a common good. Outlying opinions would be voted down. We would have a more efficient government.

The voters drawn for those seats would have their jobs protected for the duration of their terms, as with the National Guard.
