amend the constitution to ensure equal rights for women

Created by N.E. on November 18, 2012

In 1923 the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced, and in 1972 it was passed by both houses of the US Congress. it reads:

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

The rights of women should be guaranteed and protected by the federal government. This idea has waited long enough.
