Amend the Constitution to grant the President line-item veto power, overridden by Congress with a 2/3 majority vote.

In the 1980s, as a solution to reducing the size of the federal budget, President Ronald Reagan called for line-item veto power. The intention was to eliminate wasteful pork barrel projects from being included in legislation or appropriation bills. It was a good idea then and is an especially great idea today for a Republican House of Reprrsentatives and a Democrat president to restore common sense and civility to the budget process.
