Amend the Constitution to hold gun makers, sellers and owners responsible for criminal acts committed with firearms

Created by M.R. on December 14, 2012

We have a rich tradition regarding the ownership of firearms. The Second Amendment, as interpreted by the Supreme Court, provides gun owners with an unbridled right to bear arms. In turn, the Constitution does not provide the people with an ability to control illegal gun use. The result is that our country is the most gun-violent industrialized nation in the world.

Most gun owners use guns properly. But, despite their best efforts, gun violence, including violence involving the death of multiple innocent individuals, is commonplace. There are simply too many manufacturers, sellers and owners whose actions lead to the illegal use of a firearm.

We must hold people responsible if they wish to exercise their right to make, sell or bear arms. The Constitution should be amended as such.
