By law Mexican general election campaigns start 90 days before election day with an additional 60-day primary season. To limit the expense of US elections and reduce the relentless assault of divisive rhetoric, Congress should act to send to the States a Constitutional amendment adopting similar periods for Presidential election campaigns.
