We live in a country that is slowly growing into one of complete equality.
Equal rights for men, women, and children has long been an important part of being an American citizen. The right to express your personal beliefs, whatever they may be, is explicitly spelled out in the Bill of Rights.
Giving any one religion the power to write laws has the effect of suppressing other belief systems, and does not make all citizens equal.
These days, we see state governments using the words of the Bible and other religious texts as justification to deny people their rights as U.S. citizens. This is not the American way, and it must be stopped.
Solution:
Make it unconstitutional to write laws based on religious belief. Only cold, hard facts should be allowed in the lawmaking process.
