The 17th Amendment has removed a portion of checks and balances from our legislative process. Fiscal responsibility has been abandoned, replaced by reckless spending to appease the constituents of various Senators; in the process, states have lost their voice in the federal government. An Amendment to the Constitution could prevent budgetary waste and encourage a return to a truly balanced budget, and most importantly, a prosperous, competitive America.
