Amend the Constitution to restrict the President and members of Congress to a single five-year term of office only

Created by D.V. on March 02, 2013

The current political climate in Washington has the federal government careening from one continuing resolution to another, to a debt ceiling crisis, followed by a fiscal cliff - and finally, a budget sequestration, the ultimate doomsday scenario agreed to by the President and Congress way back in summer 2011. These multiple fiscal deadlines are caused by those who wield true power in Washington: the senior senators and representatives in Congress. They are majority and minority leaders alike, aided by "whips" who keep Congressional rookies in line. They are supported by chairmen of powerful congressional committees with equal seniority. To reclaim their power, the Constitution must limit the President, Vice President, Senators, and Representatives to a single term of five years only.
