We never need to go through one of these debt ceiling showdowns again.
Here's why:
When the budget is approved and signed into law, Congress & the President are agreeing that the debt ceiling has to go up.
So, let's just require that any budget that is passed and requires an increase in the debt ceiling must also contain a clause raising the debt ceiling.
This makes a lot more sense than shutting down the government for no good reason at all.
