Current governance convention seeks to gain a 51% majority which leaves the other 49% of Americans disenfranchised. We are a whole country and we should not leave 1/2 of us behind or upset.
How can we come together and work together as a country if we are always divided? We need to reach a compromise.
I propose that we allow the government to act with the agility it needs, but with the understanding that if we are not in a 2/3rds majority then more consensus needs to be built.
Sunsetting laws, after 5 years, allows government time to prove the usefulness of laws, and the time to consider alternatives, before an extension vote could be passed later at 2/3rds. A law could receive 2 chances to become permeant, or sunset permanently.
Let's focus on laws that are clearly needed.
