This petition calls for amending the Constitution of the United States so as to prohibit and permanently constrain members of congress from setting or changing the financial compensation granted to members of Senate and House of Representatives for their elected service to the people. Members of Congress are elected by the people of the United States for the sole purpose of representing the people's interest during law-making processes and the governance of such laws. As such, they are hired by the people through the election process to serve the interest of the people. Therefore, it is the sole right of the people to decided how and when such representatives shall be compensated for their service to the people not the members of Congress themselves.
