The Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003 was designed to prevent unwanted cold calls from telemarketers. Since it came into law, it has been widely successful stopping most, but not all intrusive telemarketing calls. Exceptions were granted for political organizations and those conducting surveys. During election season the number of calls from candidates and political parties increases. Many of these intrusive calls are in the evenings. The Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003 should be amended to prohibit candidates, political organizations, and those conducting surveys or a new Do-Not-Call Improvement Act should be passed into law to close this exception.
