Amend the Fair Labor Standards Act

Created by A.P. on September 27, 2011

We the People petition this administration to Amend the Fair Labor Standards Act in order to remove the option of exempting employees from the Act thus requiring all US employers to adhere to laws regarding financial compensation for overtime labor. Through the exemption of this Act, employers have forced their workers to work far more than 40 hours per week without additional compensation. This goes against the original intention of the Act, which was to set a fair work week and fair compensation for the American worker. By removing the exemption, employees would be paid fairly for their time and jobs would be created because employers would be forced to hire new employees to meet their labor needs.
