Amend the Federal Drug Conspiracy Laws

Created by L.L. on March 23, 2013

The Federal conviction rate in the United States of America is 99%. The majority of these convictions are achieved through plea bargaining as 97% of all federal cases end with a guilty plea being entered by the defendant. Approximately two thirds of the three percent who take it to trial are convicted. Any system where conviction is nearly-assured is stacked against the accused and is tremendiously unjust. So many Americans are being incarcerated where no physical evidence is present, yet these charges are based on a testimony from a "witness" who is facing charges and is only seeking to bargain with hopes of decreasing their time. Innocent people are being accused, convicted and locked away because of this modern day witch hunt based on pure hearsay.
