We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

To amend the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act to include state and local Corrections Officers.

Created by A.A. on August 01, 2016

The law Enforcement Officers Safety Act should and must be amended to include All Government state and local Correctional Officers. Currently Corrections Officers are not eligible to be protected by LEOSA simply because the requirement of stationary powers of arrest, which C.O.'s only have powers of arrest while in performance of their duties. BUT the dangers of being a jailer or prison officer don't end once they clock out, time and time again officers are followed home and assaulted, retaliated against by families of inmates, or run into former inmates that wish to do them harm. Even though the dangers the Correctional Officers face are mostly behind the walls the danger sometimes follows them off duty which is why the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act needs be changed to include CO's
