We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Amend the Individual with Disabilities Act to Include Language that Limits the Size of Caseloads.

Created by V.R. on October 27, 2016

I am petitioning the Obama administration to propose legislation that would amend the Individuals with Disabilities Act. (IDEA) This amendment would include language that would limit the number of students (cases) that a special education teacher would be legally allowed to be responsible for. If necessary this language should include an enforcement method that would be tied to federal school funding.

We have a severe shortage of special education teachers in this country. This shortage has increased the burnout rate. Caseloads are getting very large. Special Education Teachers are having to teach and plan for a full day of classes, teach all subjects, and manage caseloads of 30 or more.
