Amend the IDEA act of 1975 in a way that would give rights to the regular education students. Amend the act to permit school administrators the ability to discipline students with special needs when their behavior is impeding the learning of other students. The act should also be amended to maintain a low class size whenever there are special needs students within the classroom.
Rationale: My daughter is in a class with a special needs child who is constantly taking the teacher's attention from the remainder of the class. The student is labeled as emotional support, so the principal cannot suspend the student as much as necessary due to restrictions set by IDEA. This act puts too many safeguards in place for the special education students and not enough for everyone else.
