This petition is to allow corrections officers to be included in the law enforcement officer safety act. This law allows for police officers to carry concealed firearms without specific licensing state to state. Many of the inmates corrections officers work with on a daily basis will again become members of society. This creates a potential threat to any officer who may encounter these individuals in our neighborhoods at any time. This petition asks for specific language regarding correctional officers in the law enforcement officers safety act.
