Please amend Medicare reimbursement rules to enable doctors to provide follow-up treatment and prescriptions via e-mail following initial visit and diagnosis. This will provide incentives to doctors to minimize unnecessary visits and reduce costs.
Until my recent move from Washington Metro area, I was enrolled in the Kaiser Medicare Advantage plan, where I could seek and receive medical advise via e-maiI, and I was very pleased with the system. Now I am in Delaware, on a BRAVO Medicare plan, in which doctors seem to follow traditional care model, built around doctors visits, and doctors are not open to communicating with patients via e-mail. Reimbursing doctors for e-mail service, at a fraction of the cost of personal visits, will be a big money saver.
