Amend the outdated and discriminatory eligibility criteria for donating blood that targets gay and bisexual men.

The United States defers blood donors for the simple reason of being a male that has had sexual contact with a male since 1977. Unlike other eligibility questions, a "yes" to this oftentimes, if not most, will garner automatic deferral without questioning whether or not the sex was protected. Sexual history is only required from men who have had sex with men and women that have had sex with men who have had sex with men, regardless of their actual risk for HIV. This is plainly discriminatory as it is archaic thinking that HIV/AIDS is a "gay disease." HIV/AIDS and Hep C can be equally transmitted man-man, man-woman, woman-man, woman-woman, trans-trans, trans-cis, cis-trans. A woman who has sex with multiple women is more likely to contract HIV than a male with a monogamous male partner
