A healthcare bill was sorely needed. Americans were loosing their health insurance and being given mediocre coverage when they had it. The president and the Congress should be commended.
We the People hearby petition the President to do what he can to Amend the Law and strike the individual mandate.
The idea that a mandate is needed for healthcare reform is a unnecessary gift to insurance.
The individual mandate is something that even strong supporters of the Affordable Care Act take issue with. The government should provide the expansion of Medicare and Medicaid, and help consumers avoid the worst insurance abuses. But because of the continuing nature of dishonesty from the health insurance companies, and the resulting support for a generally good law, the individual mandate must go.
