The purpose of this petition is to have Amerasians from The Philippines and Japan included in this law.
Congress passed Public Law 97-359 (Act of 10/22/1982) a law benefiting Amerasians from Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Laos and Cambodia,, despite the longer American presence in the Philippines and Japan, these countries were excluded.
One reason was Japan and the Philippines were not war zones ,however they were staging areas and medical evacuation areas, and the Philippines was the main R&R location for troops .
These children have American blood running in their veins and that is a direct result of our actions. We should shoulder our responsibility to these children and give them their BIRTHRIGHT of American citizenship.
