amend the school lunch minimum calorie requirements

Created by G.F. on November 13, 2012

We, the students of the United States, request to increase the portion sizes of our school lunches. We understand the importance of a healthy diet, but only 850 calories per meal is not acceptable, especially for young adults that have no other way of attaining a meal.

It's recommended that high school athletes consume at least 3,000 calories per day during their respective seasons of play. These athletes are not attaining even half of that in their school lunches. Young adults need at least 1,800 to 3,200 calories a day in order to stay healthy. In fact, a highly active teen needs about 5,000 calories per day.

We request that the school systems of the United States raise the calorie intake to at least 1,000 calories for high school students, per meal.
