There has been many shooting over the past years. Between Virginia Tech, Aurora Colorado Movie Theatre, and most recently Sandy Hook Elementary, it is evident that a change must be made. Revoking access for one to bear firearms can change all these issues. If one may not purchase a firearm, the chances of these shootings to occur again decrease significantly. The second amendment was written in 1791, and I highly doubt at that time that "the right to bear firearms" was meant to reach this extent. Even if the US government is not ready to give up firearms altogether, why not ban assault weapons. How does an assault weapon save someone from a dangerous circumstance any different than a normal hand gun?
