Please amend Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act which gives websites full immunity for maintaining defamatory and injurious material on their sites. Many website owners refuse to remove harmful and defamatory statements that can affect a person's privacy and reputation. If a website is contacted because the material is considered injurious to the victim, website owners (especially those websites that generate advertising revenue) should remove the content upon request. Victims of injurious content currently have no legal recourse against these types of websites. Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "No one shall be subjected to...attacks upon his honor and reputation. Free speech does not eliminate the critical right to reputation and privacy.
