Amend the Social Security Administration's Windfall Elimination Provision that reduces benefits for government retirees.

Created by B.L. on February 23, 2013

Under current Social Security regulations, the WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision), your Social Security retirement benefits can be reduced to almost half if you are/were a government employee (Federal, State or Local), regardless of the amount of the government pension you are entitled to receive.

If the government pension is at or below poverty level, then there should be no reduction to Social Security retirement benefits if all other eligibility criteria has been met. If you paid into the Social Security system through non-governmental employment, then the amount of the government pension you receive should be taken into consideration before any reductions can be applied. Please review and amend the WEP regulation stated above. Thank you for your consideration.
